10 Rules To Surviving the Supermarket

Vamp It Up Manchester

First, let me tell you why I hate super market shopping:

My mind mind goes from running at a million random thoughts a minute to going blank when I’m actually using it to recall something. Yesterday I improvised and managed to cook something my partner said he would “pay money to eat”- it was a fluke I had bits in my cupboard that happened to compliment each other. I end up buying things that I like to eat but don’t work together as a meal. Melted cheese on gerkins with Smiley Faces anyone?

I find it tricky to judge how much of each thing I’ll need. I can’t tell you the amount of times a meal has only required three part’s, say Quorn chicken pieces, coconut milk and curry paste, and I’ve somehow come home with 3 tins of coconut milk, one bag of Quorn and totally forgot to buy…

OOTD – Modern 70’s Street Style

Screen Shot 2015-08-27 at 17.42.50

Not everyone can get away with a flared jump suit and giant platforms (neither can I) so I’ve taken some subtler 70’s elements that are easy to incorporate into a daytime outfit.

Big waves and big hoop earrings

A structured floaty top

Statment sparkles

Chunky sandals and flared jeans

Earrings – Manchester Arndale Market (similar here)

Top – Luxemme

Jeans – Next

Shoes – Newlook

Ring – Monsoon (similar here)

My Top was kindly gifted to me by Luxemme who take their inspiration from classic French- Parisian fashion, as well as authentic Manchester street style to create definitive looks with a modern interpretation. A limited edition range is also available!

A Not Entirely Serious Interview With Me ^_^

I absolutely love those cheeky questionnaires about life that Cosmopolitan send to their celebrity of the month to fill in. I thought I’d do it myself with some questions from the Augusts issue.

Stop making me laugh!

Name: Chrissie

Nickname: Beer Wench, Wenchetta

My mood right now is: Silly

But could be improved/worsened by: Salt and pepper tofu with extra chilli and a cold larger with fresh lime.

The emoji I can’t live without is: Big cheesy grin face

Life’s far too short to:

a) Not eat carbs

b) Cry over men

c) Bitch about each other ❤

d) Google yourself

My standard photo face is:

My thoughts are: “Strange, I felt like I was smiling more and what the hell is going on with my hair!?”

The last book I read was: Clariel by Garth Nix for review purposes but I really liked it.

When no one is looking I:

a) Take a pouty selfie

b) Download One Direction’s music

c) Scroll through a Kardashian’s Instagram Only Khloe’s though!

d) Dance around naked

People ALWAYS ask me: “So what’s this dyslex-praxia thing you have? Is it like dyslexia but more?”  “Er….”

The first thing I do when I walk into the house is:

a) Take my makeup off

b) Put rubbish TV on like: Chrisley Knows Best and The Real Housewives of OC

c) Check Facebook/Instagram/Twitter

d) Whip my bra off

Heartbreak is: I’ve never experienced it but I’m guessing a physical and emotional longing.

Draw a picture of your self here:

The best thing about being Chrissie is: Luckily my boobs stick out further than my belly lol

…and the worst is: Fatigue and a really dodgy short term memory.

My friends always make fun of me for: Having really ditzy moments. They are funny though…the moments I mean XoD

The thing that makes me really angry is: People who rudley stare and talk about people passing by loudly. Smh.

If I was a man for the day the first thing I’d do is: (blushing and laughing emoji face).

I’ve tried and tried but the one thing I can’t understand about men is: Why they choose to be moody rather than communicating.

The last text message I received said: I did the washing up monster.

…and was from: The Bloke

Beauty Review: Orchard View Naturals Harmonising Organic Facial Oil

I received this product in a Souk Souk box (which I paid for) and I’m so glad I’ve discovered Orchard View  as they are:

  • Vegan
  • Cruelty free
  • Environmentally responsable
  • Made by hand
  • 100% natural
  • Contain 99.5% Soil Association certified ingredients
  • They use reclaimed, recycled & recyclable material where ever possible

Rose Geranium Harmonising Organic Facial Oil 10ml £9.50

The science bit…

‘Ingredients in this blend have numerous active botanical components which have been shown in studies to positively impact the skin. Anti-inflammatory Omega 6 helps to keep the skin hydrated & to prevent Trans-epidermal water loss (TEWL). Due to its molecular structure, Jojoba mimics the action of sebum, the skin’s own natural lubricant, so deep cleanses blocked pores, moisturises and promotes a healthy, glowing complexion. Rose Geranium also helps balance sebum & oxygenate the skin. High Altitude Lavender has complex, proven pharmacological benefits including antibacterial & antioxidant actions. An added ingredient in all our blends is 100% natural Vitamin E, a clinically proven, moisturising anti-oxidant.’

My verdict….

This oil has a subtle flowery scent which is very calming when gently massaged into the skin – like a little hug for the face. It has a small pipet for easy application. I’ve been applying this night and day for 9 days.

  • My skin looks plumper and healthier
  • Old acne scarring looks diminished
  • My combination skin is balanced without any breakouts
  • My skin tone is even and less prone to redness/inflammation
  • Absorbs fairly quickly so makeup can be applied soon after

Rating 5/5

Allergy/Skin Advice: Contain nuts and seeds. Also if you have very sensitive skin then a patch test is always recommended.

Light Medium Colour Match! Sleek Foundation and Corector & Concealer

This goes out to all of the chicks who have light-medium skin tones. Who are a little drab and sallow in the depths of Winter and get a gorgeous golden tan quickly in the Summer.

I recently discovered that the brand Sleek (who are cruelty free of course) take into account actual skin tones i.e. Pink tones, honey tones (that’s me), coffee tones etc. and don’t just get more and more pigmented like so many UK brands.

I purchase their foundation in Barley. It was a toss up in Superdrug’s false lighting between that and the lighter Sand.

Perfect match! Whoooop!

I love how easily this foundation spreads and how light it feels on my skin, it also has a gorgeous luminosity so it doesn’t actually look like I’m wearing any makeup. I was also impressed with the medium coverage.

I made the mistake of buying the wrong shade in the Corrector and Concealer unfortunately. I should have gone for shade 02 which seemed a little too light but 03 (which I purchased) is way too dark, even though the setting powder is a really close match to my foundation which totally threw me – sigh. Still, I blended the creamy corrector and concealer together and made a close-enough match for days when I don’t need a full face of foundation but thick coverage in certain areas.

I’m so glad I’ve found an affordable cruelty free brand that has so many shades in all of their products, not just foundation. They also have little tester tubes of foundation available to purchase on line!

Are you familiar with Sleek cosmetics?

Does Insta Natural Cellulite Cream and Stretch Mark & Scar Cream work?

As you might have seen in a recent post I tested some body oil on my cellulite and stretch marks. Although I was very pleased with one of the results there were still further improvements that I wanted to see in places. I got some lucky blogging karma and was given these creams from Insta Natural to try.

Cellulite Cream £21.95 (120ml)

Insta Natural Cellulite Cream

What they say about the ingredients…

  • Contains Retinol, Caffeine and Vitamin C – a powerful blend that helps visibly reduce the appearance of cellulite and dimples
  • Caffeine tones and tightens, while Retinol repairs and restores, so you can obtain long-lasting results for a firm and supple appearance
  • Provides superior hydration with Organic Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Avocado Oil and Organic Jojoba Oil to increase elasticity and achieve softer and smoother skin tone
  • Green Tea, Vitamin E and Vitamin C work to deliver powerful anti-aging benefits for youthful and healthy skin
  • Our moisturizing cream is easy to apply and provides long lasting results with continuous application

My Description and Results

I’ve been using this morning and night for 1 week. As it’s so difficult to get a picture I used the cream on my LEFT leg and not on my right leg. This cream has a thick whipped mouse feel to it. It has an unusual biscuity coffee scent which lingers a long time, so I was glad I wasn’t rushing to catch a bus shortly after applying it!

Well a week later and the back of my LEFT leg is exactly the same. I know a week is a fairly short amount of time but after 14 applications and massages, I’d expect to see SOME difference. As you can see, I have the kind of Cellulite that’s in horizontal indentations. Maybe it would work better on the ‘cottage cheese’ type?

Stretch Mark & Scar Cream £21.95 (120ml)

Insta Batural Stretch Mark & Scar Cream

What hey say about the ingredients…

‘Vitamin C, Cocoa Butter, Rosehip Oil & Mango Butter to provide superior hydration and nourish your skin. Stretch marks appear when skin is stretched past its limit. This weakens the collagen in your skin, which turns into “tiger stripes” and scars on the body. Our formula fights stretch marks with Vitamin C, which improves the look and feel of your skin. Use all over the body – including the stomach, hips, thighs, arms, hands and feet – for soft and supple skin.’

My Description and Results

I’ve been using this morning and night for 1 week. I like the creams scent and even though it’s thick it spreads really easily.

After 1 Week

I’ve got more of a tan in the after picture which (oddly) helps to blend the marks more but I did notice that they didn’t look quite as deep, as though the texture of my skin was more even. I also tried this on a scar that’s three years old but it didn’t really do much. I’m going to keep on using this daily throughout the summer on my stretch marks though.
