News/Cultural – Select Someone To Share News Stories With You

Select someone who knows you well – even if they don’t read your blog – to email you news stories that they think will really interest you. This way you will always have new sources of inspiration that are relevant to your interests. I find reporting on news and culture can be appropriate in some cases but most of the time the stories serve as a platform for thought or a general topic for discussion.Screen Shot 2015-04-13 at 14.13.11

Fashion/Style – Unique Characters From TV & Films That You Love

Now I’m not exactly talking Willy Wonka here but if there is a larger than life, or very alternative character who you love, you can take elements of their style and incorporate it into an outfit that would work in real life. It could be an OOTD style post, or a ‘Shop The Look’ visual or you could research where the costume designers inspiration came from, which might lead you in another direction entirely.

Free Flow or Personal Writing – Use Times When You Can’t Sleep

You know those moments when you are lying in bed and your body is tired but your brain won’t switch off? When your subconscious is almost blending with your conscious thoughts? This is the perfect moment to think outside of the box (maybe the person who came up with that phrase was in this state) or to ponder more meaningful things. Lying horizontally is not the most practical time to type or write I know, so I suggest using a dictaphone. Your neighbours will think you are crazy and your partner may want to suffocate you with a pillow but you may come up with a total epiphany!

Creative – Be Original

Is there something you wish was available that would make your life easier? Well, then design or craft it, there is so much inspiration on Pinterest. Is there an old item of clothing that you have which you could turn into something new? An old pair of boots that could be cut out and styled into fashionable chunky sandals and decorated with studs. An old tee which could be platted and dyed? It could even be a phrase or pun that fits perfectly into a post i.e. A review of Guardians Of The Galaxy could include the line ‘I’m a total Grootie’ as one of the characters is called Groot – yes I’m a big geek.

Culture/Lifestyle – How Random!

This is a fun game. Pick out ten albums which vaguely suit your current mood and select a song randomly from a random album. You could write about how the genre has changed over the years, you could be inspired by the message in the song, by the artist, or even the album artwork. Your post could also be a playlist for a specific reason i.e. Party, work out, chill out, even your favourite musicals – but don’t blame me if you loose followers ;o)

I get my ideas mostly from reading other blogs and or discovering unique experiences in games. Or school. School inspires me a lot more so because I have to find something creative to write about.

I love your list. Very valuable!

I bet school is a big source of inspiration…and the people in it maybe? I’ve become a lot less creative since I left school/college but I did do Textiles, Media, Theatre and Art so not surprising really!

Thank you hon! Do you ever finally get the time to write but then you’re not in the right headspace to be creative? That’s why I thought I’d share some ideas :0)

Thanks! :0) My ethos over the past few weeks has been ‘look in side yourself’ and ‘speak from the heart’ even if it only relates to the type/topic of post, rather than any in depth content.

These are great, I have been looking for new and interesting things to post about as I generally just post recipes or things I’m doing about town. But I’ve been hitting a block about those lately so I needed something fresh!

Glad I could help. I tend to write about similar stuff but it’s nice to mix it up a bit sometimes isn’t :0)

I get inspiration from deep inside the Chaos Realm, dreams I have, my kitties, books I’ve read…and I do follow several news feeds, and I signed up for Google Alerts on topics I’m interested in. Like #dinosaurs or #astronomy! Or #pizza! *laugh*

I might have to steal your Google Alerts idea just for use in my real life, not just blog life!
