Falling over! I’m in the second week of recovering from a fall caused by foot drop (where the foot suddenly goes limp) as a result of my MS, not helped by Dyspraxia I’m sure. I’m mostly recovered, I’ve just got to keep on using a combination of oils to diminish the scarring under my nose. Not helping today is fatigue which comes hand-in-hand with brain fog so writing this is an exercise in concentration to say the least, ha!
I was recently sent a sachet of Pure Chimp Matcha Green Tea to try as I’m on a bit of a health kick at the moment to give my body (and brain) as much chance as possible. I’m not going to lie, this tea is BITTER! I used a teaspoon in hot water and added some honey and a tiny bit of maple syrup. Maybe a shot glass would have been better. Then I added one flat teaspoon to my green smoothie (kale, pineapple, mango, kiwi, grapes) which tasted great! I’ll be keeping the matcha as part of the smoothie from now on.
Matcha is known to boost your metabolism, help with weight loss, have a positive effects on mood, memory and focus, steady energy levels for up to 6 hours – no more peaks and crashes
Delicate green tea flavour, completely natural and vegan-friendly and
Mixes easily with hot water, or into smoothies. It mixed better than any protein powder I’ve tried and I stayed alert all day and well into the night without flagging once, which is always a bonus for me! Pure Chimp also sell skincare products and have an excellent blog with ideas for how to use your matcha if you feel like experimenting.
I’ve almost finished reading Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell and sadly didn’t like it as much as I thought. I couldn’t get into the fan fiction which the main character Cath writes because I found it too distracting from the main story and kept forgetting where that was up to. I think I’ll read the fan fic in it’s own right when I’ve finished. I liked Cath very much but couldn’t relate to her exactly. When I was 13-18 and was a little shy and incredibly awkward (in new social situations) I would have adored this book but the more times Cath refused invites to socialise the more frustrated I got. I genuinely liked Cath’s character arch, I did, it’s just that it’s so slow. The book does gather momentum constantly though, rather than plateauing in the middle and the plot isn’t entirely obvious with several unexpected moments. Rowells writing is exceptionally easy to read and her characters are well portrayed and rounded. I also loved the dialogue between al of the characters and found Cath’s inner monologue to be poetic yet always realistic.
Freebie alert! June’s Marie Clare (available now) comes with a free St Tropez fake tan included and an interview with eternally enchanting Drew Barrymore. This month’s In Style mag are giving away Nails Inc. polishes and features the always awesome chicklet Chloe Moretz. Yes, I like alliteration sometimes.
I found some wide leg khaki trousers (which will look good with the lace up boots I’ve started wearing to support my ankles) in M&S for my trip to – wait for it – Barcelona! I truly have no idea how long it will be before I’m unable to take trips like this so I’m being treated to one by friends and family. I somehow got a little way-laid on my online trip and ‘accidentally’ bought some cushions in leu of getting my flat. The top cushion has tie dye pastel colours all over but for some reason the green has shown up most strongly in the photograph.
I’m off to Mogli in the Corn Exchange with The Bloke for my birthday so I’ll probably do a relaxed review on them soon. I’ve also got some great reviews coming up including a luxury skincare brand, a geeky tee shirt company and natural health supplements, so keep a look out!
