Taking a tip from the 90’s! I didn’t know I had style at the time as I grew up in a really scaly-fied area where Berghaus and Halley Hansen were the things to wear, not because they were practical outdoor clothes but because they were an expensive status symbol and often ‘fell off the back of a lorry’ anyway. As a teen I was all about black velvet chokers, ripped jeans, Dr Martens and dyed red hair. I now realise it was an alternative and cool style for adults aged 18 – 30 sure but ‘a bit weird innit!?’ to most of my Oasis and Dr Dre obsessed peers at the time.
I’ve come to realise the 90’s was a great decade for makeup as well so I’m embracing brown lipstick and coloured eyeliner again. More clean graphic lines and less smudging with the liner this time around though.
The Lipstick
From left to right:
Collection Lasting Colour in Fig Delight 10
Can be sheer but builds easily to become opaque and darker. This is wonderfully moisturising and has good to average staying power.

Gosh Matt in Nougat 011
This contain some moisture and still gives a densely pigmented matt finish. Looks lighter on lips than the bullet.

NYX butter gloss in Ginger Snap BLG 17
Incredibly sticky, long wearing and highly pigmented for a gloss. This survives most things including food but the pigment then looks uneven so it’s time for a top up.

NYX Liquid Suede (cream lipstick) in Soft Spoken LSCL 04
Like most liquid lipsticks this takes a while to dry down to a matt opaque finish. It glides on and doesn’t leave lips flakey or dry. This stayed on through a four course Indian meal so I’m incredibly impressed!

The Eyeliner
Barry M Super Soft Eye Crayon No4
Slightly too big to use for detailed graphic shapes without some practice but brilliant at basic lining, smudging or as eyeshadow. Very metallic and shiny!
❤ ❤ ❤ ❤
GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner (waterproof), Woody Green
Slight metallic sheen, good for detail and has great staying power. Not one to smudge or blend.

Sleek Eau La La Linner (water proof and smudge proof), Melba
This is one of the strangest liners I’ve used. The consistency once on the eye lid is almost like those paint marker pens! Very thick, opaque and utterly immovable. I had to use a lot of micellar water and a cotton bud to remove it, impressive for a pencil! I actually don’t like it very much though because it’s hard to draw any kind of detail with and doesn’t seem to glide very well.
❤ ❤
GOSH Velvet Touch Eyeliner (waterproof), Purple Stain
Same as other Gosh liner.

Collection EXTREME 24 Hours Felt Tip Liner, Teal
As you can imagine this is perfect for fine graphic detail and flicks. It’s quick drying and long wearing. Beautiful colour!
