We know that flights now have a green tax added to them, the further you fly, the more unenvironmentally friendly that is, the more tax you pay, to encourage people to think twice about air travel.
Well, imagine if every item had a green tax on it so the farther it travels from production to your trolley or the less biodegradable the packaging etc the more tax it has, encouraging people to buy locally.

My nails tear and bend really easily so even the most hard wearing of nail polishes flake off after a few days.
Mani Mask promises to strengthen and condition damaged nails and conceal with a semi matt finish.
This dried incredibly quickly to a silk matt finish and made my nails stonger immediately. It also evened out the white tips of my nails which can become transparent in places. As nail supplements don’t work very well due to my illnesses, I’m really looking forward to getting my nails healthier by using this instead.
The end result looks like my natural nails but better.
……It’s the end of day two now and not a single chip, virtually unheard of with my nails!

Hattie looks like she is set to have a miserable summer as her family are on holiday, her best friend Kat is at uni in Edinburgh and her friend with benefits (if you can call them that) Reuben has disappeared to Europe. When Hattie realises she is pregnant all she wants to do is run away from the idea so when her long lost Great-Aunt Gloria suggests a road trip she decides to go, even though Gloria is in the early stages of dementia and loves a Gin Sling or two, or three….
I have to admit this novel took a long time to grab my attention. Between Hattie’s constantly meandering thoughts and Gloria’s hostility I was beginning to loose patience with it. I was a third of the way through and the road trip hadn’t even started yet. However, when it did I found it hard to put it down.
Gloria doesn’t just want to reminisce, she wants to tell a very specific story about her (and Hattie’s) family but she will only reveal the details in order and when she thinks it is the right time. This creates a lot of suspense and unexpected twists. What is revealed is a story of love, fear, friendship, humour and compromise in the past and the present.
The novel is a lot deeper than I first realised and touches on every emotion a person will experience throughout life. To reveal certain topics would be to spoil the book but over all it is a story about peoples decisions and relationships with each other and one’s own relationship with their mind. If your thoughts and memories were to cease to exists then would you also disappear?

Eden’s Semilla are the producers of effective natural skincare in the form of oils and serums. Their products are organic, cruelty free and excellent value for money.
Hyaluronic Acid Serum
Active ingredients: Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Retinol, Aloe Vera, and Shea Extract.
I applied this to my face when my skin was paper dry and within 30 minutes my skin felt more moisturised so I didn’t need an extra moisturiser. The product carried on drawing moisture into my skin throughout the day and the oil levels in my skin were kept balanced. I have a lot of old acne scarring which has created an orange peel texture on my cheeks and they looked plumper and therefor smoother. I’m very impressed with this product!
Vitamin C Serum
Active ingredients: Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Retinol, Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, Rosehip and Jojoba oil.
I’ve only been using this for four days so I’m not sure of the effect long term use would have. I have noticed that my skin feels moisturised and doesn’t need any additional moisturiser and it has a youthful radiance to it (which it usually never has) and looks a little plumper. I was told by a friend that I looked really well and they asked if I’d changed my base (foundation, BB cream ect.) but I was barefaced without any makeup. I don’t always have the confidence to do this (even when I’m not blotchy) but now I have.
Retinol can make skin sensitive to sunlight so I do not recommend using these two products together and use sparingly on very sunny days along with your usual sunscreen.
Hygge pronounced ‘Hoo-ga’ by the Danish
Meaning: cozy, intimate, luxurious, indulgent and fun
I’ve wanted to design my own trainers and have them made for years so when I had a really specific idea I gave it a try.
I realised that you can’t just choose any colour or finish and that you only have certain colour options with certain styles of shoe. I picked these as they had the iridescent option of course! I’ve always loved the colour Cyan so I decided to make a third of the parts Cyan coloured and two thirds bright and shiny.
They only took two weeks to arrive andI was updated by email with each step.
You get to print something on the back so I named my design ‘WENCH’ lol
The Nike Air soles really are like walking on air but you don’t need any skill or strength to balance (unlike Sketchers memory foam). The only criticism I have is that this style is like a thick sock within a frame with the laces being barley functional unless you want your shoes (even) tighter. Unless you have skinny ankles (which I’ve been lucky to get away with this summer for once) you are going to struggle to get these on!
Big thanks goes to the Bloke who was a great sounding board when it came to shoelace colour.
On Friday we decided to go for a drink and then for a meal. We visited The Metropolitan as they have a chilled atmosphere in the pub and a nice restaurant offering several interesting and well considered veggie options.
I wish I’d have known how nice the outside area was before now, as we’d have visited regularly over the Summer with cocktails from the incredibly well stocked bar. As you can see, I was eyeing up the cakes from the moment we sat down in the restaurant lol
Goats cheese and chive hash brown with apple puree and mixed leaves. This was absolutely lovely. The apple puree really complimented the goats cheese and was a nice twist.
Asparagus tagliatelle, asparagus spears, Gran Moravia cheese, white wine & asparagus sauce. I very rarely see a mains with a white sauce as a veggie option so I was really looking forward to this, so much that I started eating it before remembering to take a piccy – oops! The sauce was delicate and well balanced and the asparagus was al dente just the way it should be. The only addition I would have added were pine nuts possibly.
I love skin-on sweet potato fries so ordered them as a side. The portion size of my mains and the side were so generous, I had to ask for a doggy bag for half of the fries!
Lemon posset with lemon shortbread biscuits. This was delicious! Imagine the thickest, creamiest, smoothest cheesecake you’ve ever had. The biscuits were crunchy and buttery. I’ve tried a lemon posset and biscuits before at Greens restaurant and this was as amazing as that.
The bloke ordered the same starter and desert as myself but chose sticky toffee pudding, toffee sauce and ice cream. He said it was perfectly cooked on the outside and slightly gooey in the middle and really complimented by the sauce and fresh berries.
The only negative aspect of the night was that every time I ordered a cocktail I had to wait ages for it to arrive and flag someone down to inquire about it. I ordered one straight after my starter and had finished my main dish by the time it had arrived! Oddly, later as I went to the bar I got served instantly and was asked by two more people if I was being served. Maybe best to go to the restaurant on a weekday instead!
As you can see I got his free with this months (October) In Style mag and was so pleased as NYR are one of my fave beauty brands for their cruelty free, fair trade and organic ethics.
This is a very unusual product and creates a velvet finish more like a face primer. I think this is perfect for the heat wave we are having at the moment because it doesn’t make skin tacky and sinks in immediately to a dry finish, while still moisturising skin with a combination of olive and pumpkin seed oil, aloe vera and essential oils. This makes moisturing and immediately pulling on skinny jeans so much easier!
