The Vegan Kind Beauty Box review – February

The Vegan Kind Beauty Box review - February

The first box I reviewed (here) was a backdated one from summer but this is the official The Vegan Kind – February beauty box (£15 + 3.15p&p), which is why I’ve gotten lip scrubs in two consecutive boxes, by chance I suppose.

Tea Face Healing Hydration Scrub (RRP £17.99)

Apart from me wanting to call this ‘Tea-y Mc Tea Face’ I actually think this product is worth a post of it’s own because I need to show it to you properly. It’s a face or body scrub made up of green tea granules and essential oils which hydrates and evens skin tone and texture. Very effective!

Noughty Intensive Care Leave-In Conditioner 150ml (£6.99)

This newly launched haircare range is vegan and 97% natural, free from petrochemicals, silicones, parabens and sulphates. The last time I used an intensive conditioner all over my hair I had to wash my roots again the next day! Not so with this leave-in conditioner as the shea butter and argan oil moisturised all of my hair evenly and balanced it perfectly. Naturally, I still had to oil my coarse hair afterward but only nearer toward the ends as the rest simply didn’t need it – hurrah!

Grounded Edible Mango Lip Scrub (£4.95)

When something has edible in the tittle, you know that it’s totally natural. This is the perfect flavour for a lip scrub as it’s tropical rather than sickly sweet. It also has the perfect amount of Jojoba oil to moisturise but not too much that the sugar granules slide around ineffectively like other lip scrubs I’ve tried. This actually worked perfectly!

Spectrum Collections Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge (RRP £4.99)

The sponge is latex free which I appreciate and I like the idea that it comes in a zip lock pouch but the plastic of the pouch has that chemical kind of smell that cheap inflatables have, which rather spoils it. Still, a great tool to apply your perfecting/matifying moisturiser, foundation and shimmer or highlighter and also easily washable of course. I’m sticking to brushes when to comes to applying powder though.

PHB Ethical Beauty 100% Organic Apricot Lip Gloss (RRP £12.95)

I’d say around 80% of the lipgloss I’ve tried have immediately given me a mild sore throat. This does not and it doesn’t smell or taste of sweets and my hair and my Bloke don’t get accidentally glued to it and it actively moisturises lips (even mine) with Shea Butter and Jojoba oil. It’s more like a slightly frosted lip balm with a doe foot applicator. Again, another perfect product!

This is the best beauty box out there in my opinion because it’s great value for money, the products are natural and luxurious and the brands are all cruelty free.

Beautiful Me Lip Gloss in ‘Indian Summer’

screen-shot-2016-11-17-at-17-04-54

My lips are almost as pale as my wrists due to cold weather and bad circulation, so this really is the true colour when applied, I promise.

This lip gloss in ‘Indian Summer’ from Beautiful Me is basically my perfect lip gloss! Somewhere between sheer and opaque the gloss is build-able so that the rose-brown colour with a subtle gold shimmer can be worn subtly for day or really make an impact at night. It stays put for hours, with the golden shimmer still visible even after eating and it’s the least sticky lip gloss I’ve ever used.

I picked this up at Holland & Barrett for £12 along with my food shop and I’m so glad I took a chance bought two!

Beautiful Me makeup has been approved by PETA and Cruelty Free International who have teamed up with BUAV so it has the (leaping bunny) logo as you can see in the piccy above.

It’s My 3rd Blogversary! Thank You ^_^

screen-shot-2016-10-06-at-16-47-30

An absolutely mahoosive thank you to everyone who has been with me since the start or found this blog a while ago or have just discovered it. Your comments and likes have spurred me on to keep blogging and have been the highlight of my day when I’ve been having a bad one. Your support and enthusiasm has made me feel like I’m actually good at something when Dyspraxia has made me feel otherwise. You have made me laugh (with you, not at you), you’ve been as excited about geeky things, urban things and cruelty free things as I have and really made me think about life with your observations and advice. You are all awesome!

It is so strange to think that three years I finally took peoples advice and started a little unassuming blog. A blog which turned into something that a lot of lovely strangers actually started to follow and commented on and then some of my fave brands which I’ve used for years started to gift me their products to review and invites started arriving for blogger events, meals and cocktails!

The most surprising thing however, is that I’ve actually kept this up for three years and yes, people leave but new people follow every week. When ever I’ve felt bored because of illness or Winter weather or I’ve felt lonely, this has been a little sanctuary that I can visit, with a cuppa and snuggly wrap around cardigan, which always makes me smile.

To anyone who’s followed this blog for a long time, I appreciate you putting up with the early days of back-to-front structured sentences (thats how my thoughts sound in my head) and under or over exposed photo’s. I never realised that as a blogger I would become a copy writer, an editor, a photographer of all sorts of subjects, a photographic editor, a creator of layouts and an organised (gasp!) person capable of meeting deadlines, tagging and scheduling blog posts and the owner of several busy and successful social media accounts. Phew!

To anyone reading this who isn’t a blogger, why ever not? Give it a go, what have you got to loose? Even if you only get a small amount of followers, you will still have a creative journal of your life and maybe learn some new skills along the way.

Now give me some cake!

Genuine thanks from the bottom of my heart

Sniffy Wiffy Blueberry Body Scrub

I’m really pleased to collaborate with this exciting and caring company which encourages men and women to check their breasts/balls everyday when applying skin care products so that it becomes routine.

Pretty packaging

Pretty packaging

They say…

‘We know that to get one of our products into the hands of every man and woman up and down the country is a mahooosive mission but one that we are going to have a really good bash at. We are so grateful to all of our lovely customers – each and every one helps us get one step closer to ‘mission accomplished’. And the more we sell, the more we can donate to charity!’

‘A proportion of profits from the sale of all our female products are donated directly to our chosen charity, the fabulous and inspiring CoppaFeel!. Likewise, from the sale of every male product, we donate a proportion of profits to the brilliant Ballboys.’

Sniffy Wiffy Body Scrub

The body scrubs and lotions have the ‘how to perform a self examination’ labels but you can choose to not have the label if you don’t think it’s appropriate and each product comes with a massive list of 25 scents you can choose from.

I find some body scrubs can be too dry and contain such large chunks they simply aren’t practical. This luxury body scrub (£8.50 for 300ml) contains olive oil, shea butter and a very fine salt, meaning the scrub is gentle but effective and so moisturising I didn’t need to use a moisturiser after. The blueberry scent was really unique and reminded me of hot blueberry muffins.

I look forward to working my way through the other delicious flavours, I mean scents when I’ve used this one up :0D

This product was sent to me for review purposes. This does not affect my opinion of the product.

Barry M Nail Paint: Aquarium Collection – Arabian

Sea Punk has gained almost as much popularity as Cyber Punk and Steam Punk and in much shorter space of time. I love how fun, expressive and er, shiny it is! I think it’s more suited to tweens, teens, people in their 20’s or the kind of people that have an eternally endearing childlike kind of sweetness about them. If I went with it completely, I’d look like The Little Mermaid’s insane older sister. I’d like to incorporate a couple of Sea Punk inspired garments into to my wardrobe though so I thought I’d better start slow with this nail polish first.

Beautiful colour which reminds me of when the setting suns rays hit the waves in the sea. I took two pictures in different lights to show you the iridescent effect clearly.

I applied two thin coats. It lasted for 3 days before I noticed the first tiny chip on one nail and then it took another 2 days until I needed to totally remove it. That’s longer than any other polish I’ve used that isn’t a professional gel type.
