PHB All In One Natural Mascara Review

natural mascara

PHB All In One Natural Mascara (15.95) is made with natural ingredients hence the word ‘natural’ in the tittle. It does not refer to the effect it gives lashes, which I’m glad about as I need all of the help I can get in that department.

  • Paraben free
  • Palm oil free
  • Mineral oil free
  • GM ingredient free

I have very long but very sparse eyelashes so I need a mascara which will easily build volume but also keep lashes separate, rather than spiky. That is exactly what this mascara does. It also glides on really easily without any clumps, no matter how many layers you add and gives lashes a slight glossy look. There is always a big blob of mascara on the end of the wand so I use it to add depth to the roots of my lashes. I haven’t even used eyelash curlers here – impressive result!

As much as I love this mascara, it’s not very water proof so no going out in torrential rain or swimming.

The formula is increadibly gentle as I found out when I rubbed my eyes vigorously when really tired and managed to spread it all over my face and eyeballs. It didn’t irritate at all and I was oblivious until someone gleefully pointed out that I looked like Imperator Furiosa from Mad Max.

I’ve worn it a lot since and every time I’ve been too tired to take my makeup off before bed, I’ve woken up with lovely soft lashes that weren’t dry or broken. So I’d say this mascara actually cares for lashes too.

The Vegan Kind Beauty Box review – February

The Vegan Kind Beauty Box review - February

The first box I reviewed (here) was a backdated one from summer but this is the official The Vegan Kind – February beauty box (£15 + 3.15p&p), which is why I’ve gotten lip scrubs in two consecutive boxes, by chance I suppose.

Tea Face Healing Hydration Scrub (RRP £17.99)

Apart from me wanting to call this ‘Tea-y Mc Tea Face’ I actually think this product is worth a post of it’s own because I need to show it to you properly. It’s a face or body scrub made up of green tea granules and essential oils which hydrates and evens skin tone and texture. Very effective!

Noughty Intensive Care Leave-In Conditioner 150ml (£6.99)

This newly launched haircare range is vegan and 97% natural, free from petrochemicals, silicones, parabens and sulphates. The last time I used an intensive conditioner all over my hair I had to wash my roots again the next day! Not so with this leave-in conditioner as the shea butter and argan oil moisturised all of my hair evenly and balanced it perfectly. Naturally, I still had to oil my coarse hair afterward but only nearer toward the ends as the rest simply didn’t need it – hurrah!

Grounded Edible Mango Lip Scrub (£4.95)

When something has edible in the tittle, you know that it’s totally natural. This is the perfect flavour for a lip scrub as it’s tropical rather than sickly sweet. It also has the perfect amount of Jojoba oil to moisturise but not too much that the sugar granules slide around ineffectively like other lip scrubs I’ve tried. This actually worked perfectly!

Spectrum Collections Unicorn Tears Wonder Sponge (RRP £4.99)

The sponge is latex free which I appreciate and I like the idea that it comes in a zip lock pouch but the plastic of the pouch has that chemical kind of smell that cheap inflatables have, which rather spoils it. Still, a great tool to apply your perfecting/matifying moisturiser, foundation and shimmer or highlighter and also easily washable of course. I’m sticking to brushes when to comes to applying powder though.

PHB Ethical Beauty 100% Organic Apricot Lip Gloss (RRP £12.95)

I’d say around 80% of the lipgloss I’ve tried have immediately given me a mild sore throat. This does not and it doesn’t smell or taste of sweets and my hair and my Bloke don’t get accidentally glued to it and it actively moisturises lips (even mine) with Shea Butter and Jojoba oil. It’s more like a slightly frosted lip balm with a doe foot applicator. Again, another perfect product!

This is the best beauty box out there in my opinion because it’s great value for money, the products are natural and luxurious and the brands are all cruelty free.

Neal’s Yard Remedies Bigger and Even Better in King Street

P1060150

NYR have located to King Street and the new store looks beautiful, with elegant touches and attention to detail every where.

P1060147

I highly recommend NYR lip glosses which stay put for hours and come in a very flattering range of colours. I can’t wait to try their mascara but I have so many others to use up first that I think I’m becoming a mascara junkie!

P1060146

All of the treatment rooms are down these stairs. I love the wall decals and the idea but these treatments rooms won’t be accessible to people with mobility issues unfortunately. Unless there is a tiny lift somewhere which I didn’t spot.

P1060148

The sale of products from the Bee Lovely range mean that NYR can donate 10,000 a year to projects that help to save bees. Fantastic!

P1060152

NYR are still all about the herbs and tinctures – the original products sold in the first Covent Garden shop.

P1060149

On the night there were hand and arm massages and deep tissue/seated chair massage available. I opted for the latter by masseuse Gary as I’m always tense around my back and shoulders. Afterward I felt much more relaxed and the circulation in my hands (rather a problem) was working better than it ever has! NYR offer a huge range of treatments and therapies (16 in all) including nutritional therapy, osteopathy, acupuncture, physiotherapy, reflexology, drop in clinics, facials and indian head massage which I’ve previously reviewed and is amazing!

P1060155

How cute is this Festival Favourites wash bag ^_^ It contains Beauty Sleep Concentrate something that I need to try again using a much smaller amount next time because it’s so rich, White Tea Facial Mist which moisturises skin on the go and can be sprayed over makeup (I’ve noticed this does a great job of setting my makeup when in hot places), Wild Rose Beauty Balm which I seriously cannot recommend enough and the lazy girls must have product Face Wipes, which are so gentle even people with sensitive skin can use them.

What would would you get from Neal’s Yard Remedies?

Tropic – Natural Makeup

P1050614

Tropic Pure Effects Beauty Booster £20 is SPF 20 and contains active minerals, superfruit complexes and vegetable derived Hyaluronic Acid. I’m wearing light/medium and I have to mention after a good shake of the bottle, the liquid seemed to blend with my skin tone like magic! It’s lightweight, incredibly moisturising and gives skin an airbrushed but radiant look. It’s not too shiny though like some other BB creams I’ve used and it neutralises redness incredibly well so it’s more like a Beauty Balm and a Colour Correcting cream in one! Don’t worry if you have oily patches as you can always add a light sweep of translucent powder in those areas as I did on my nose.

P1050715

The Mineral Eyeshadow Palette in Wild Wisteria £18 contains Vitamin E, Chamomile, Baobab Oils and mineral actives which the enhances the pigmentation and makes the colour last longer. I’m using this purple based palette as I think it compliments my green eyes really well. I’m showing you a swatch as mineral pigments are notoriously difficult to capture. The purple is a lot more intense than it looks here.

I applied all of my eye makeup using the 100% Organic Sustainable Bamboo Dual-end Eyeshadow Brush £12 which I found to be incredibly soft for blending and also perfect for lining my eyes and angling it into the crease of my eye. Best brush I’ve ever used!

Are you still a foundation fan or have you switched to BB & CC creams?

These products were gifted to me by Tropic for review purposes, which does not effect my opinion. Honest as always!
